Music discovery has changed dramatically over the past decade with the rise of social media platforms. TikTok in particular has transformed how people find new songs, with catchy snippets of audio playing a huge role in expanding the reach of both established and up-and-coming artists. At Spotify, our goal is to make it as seamless as possible for listeners to save and enjoy the full tracks they discover on TikTok.
We’re excited to announce that Spotify users in the U.S. and U.K. now have a streamlined way to transfer songs from TikTok right to their Spotify libraries. With a single tap of the “Add to Spotify” button, any track you hear on TikTok can be saved to your personal “Liked Songs” playlist for listening anytime on Spotify. No more hassle of switching between apps just to find a song you want to add to your collection.
Discovering music shouldn’t involve extra work, as explained by Sten Garmark, Vice President of the Consumer Experience team at Spotify. “As the world’s largest audio-streaming subscription service, our mission is to bring artists and fans together so you can listen to more of what you love, across any platform or device. Essentially, you won’t need to find audio to suit the moment. It will find you.“
Whether users come across a catchy snippet on their FYP or browse an artist’s page, the Spotify-TikTok connection ensures nothing gets left behind. Songs will now find their way into your Spotify queues as smoothly as they make their way onto your For You feed. Our continued focus is on building seamless pathways for fans to engage with music wherever and however they want.
