Speculation around Blackpink’s future has intensified in recent weeks. The popular K-pop act’s contracts with YG Entertainment were set to be renewed last month after seven successful years together.

However, no renewal agreements have been publicly announced yet. This has fueled rumors that at least one member, Lisa, may be considering other opportunities independently from the group.

Reports from South Korean media in August indicated that negotiations between Lisa and YG were ongoing, but had not reached a resolution. Her apparent reluctance to commit long-term has led to suspicion that she may depart when her contract expires.

These rumors seemed to be confirmed by Lisa’s emotional speech at Blackpink’s final concert in Seoul on September 17th. Fans noticed tears from both her and fellow member Jennie during the performance, takes by some as hints this marked the end of the act’s run.

In one video shared online, Lisa is seen crying while thanking fans for their support over the past seven years. Her words of appreciation led commenters to speculate this farewell concert signified Blackpink in its current form may now be finished.

Meanwhile, South Korean outlets reported two contract offers had been proposed to Lisa worth around $52 million total, but were declined. It was further claimed she had received lucrative solo opportunities abroad reportedly exceeding tens of millions.

As of now, the negotiations for Blackpink’s contract renewals remain unresolved and uncertain, with growing signs at least one member may embark on an independent career path separate from the group. Only an official announcement will confirm their future plans going forward.
