Zach Bryan has walked back comments made on social media about Taylor Swift. In a late-night Twitter post on Sep. 17, Bryan declared that Kanye West was a better artist than Swift, drawing major criticism online.
A few days later, Bryan posted an apology on Instagram. He claimed the original tweets were made while intoxicated and that his intentions were misunderstood. Bryan explained he was merely comparing two albums musically and it came out wrong. He acknowledged the controversy surrounding Kanye West but said he was commenting solely on their music.
Bryan went on to say he has a lot of respect for Taylor Swift as an artist and the last thing he wants is for people to think he doesn’t appreciate her contributions. He loves Swift’s music and regrets tweets that caused offense. Bryan recognizes social media often gets him into trouble, leading him to deactivate his Twitter account for now.
In his apology, Bryan alluded to personal struggles this year that have added pressure. Balancing life challenges with his career has been difficult. As a result, he plans to take a step back from social platforms to focus on finishing his tour dates and finding ways to maintain his mental well-being.
