A longtime fan of rapper Nicki Minaj is now taking legal action against her, accusing her of defamation and inflicting emotional distress. Tameer Peak, who claims to have supported Minaj’s career for over 15 years, has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the musician in Los Angeles Superior Court.

According to court documents, Peak alleges that Minaj publicly humiliated and disparaged him on multiple occasions, labeling him a “stalker” in front of her large social media following. He states that in 2020, the rapper ridiculed him live on Instagram as hundreds of thousands watched. Peak further claims that Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty assaulted him around the same time.

The lawsuit states Peak’s admiration for Minaj began to sour as she accused some of her fans, including himself, of sabotaging her career in exchange for money. He contends the rapper’s accusations torpedoed his reputation within the fan community, known as “Barbz”.

Peak also points to instances where Minaj appeared to take thinly-veiled jabs at him during her social media sessions. On one occasion, she implied he was mentally unstable and on another, she suggested he relied on welfare. The harassment allegedly continued as unnamed parties, potentially at Minaj’s direction, sent Peak threatening messages to “stop talking”.

Through the lawsuit, Peak is seeking damages for reputational harm, emotional turmoil, and financial difficulties caused by Minaj’s alleged public bullying and false accusations over the past few years. He argues the incidents were not isolated and paint the musician in a negative light.
