Taylor Swift’s recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz for the forthcoming general election in 2024 has captured the attention of many around the world, including notorious tech tycoon Elon Musk.

As the final battle between the presidential candidates was about to unfold, Swift took to social media platforms and penned a statement in support of the Democratic candidates. Swift lauds Harris as “a steady-handed, gifted leader” who is committed to fighting for vital causes and protecting basic civil rights of all citizens. She also admires Walz’s lifelong support for LGBTQ+ rights, the right to decide on reproductive choices, and other key progressive policies during his tenure.

The ringing endorsement from Swift infused welcome energy into the Democratic campaign and neck-and-neck race. Swift said she had to clearly indicate her political stance because otherwise, it would be used to amplify digital falsehoods such as digitally manipulated images created recently that purportedly showed her endorsing Donald Trump.

The head of the social media giant X, Musk, also weighed in. As Swift’s message went viral, Musk ‘jokingly’ said on the platform that Swift had won this war of the influencers and promised safety for her cats in return for babies.

Such a weird suggestion was quite out of place with such a man who has many children from other relationships and a big age difference with Swift, presently enmeshed in a very public love affair. Musk himself is in the middle of a child custody battle over three of his children.

The enormous following of Swift online provides huge momentum to mobilize voters. Walz described Swift’s timely endorsement of Harris and himself as a thoughtful addition to the public debate that has overcome the nation.
