Deezer is changing the game for digital tunes with its international beta launch of Playlist Mode, an artificially intelligent feature to tailor-make custom soundtracks for any mood.
Deezer will give a few lucky, randomly picked fans a first go at designing playlists using simple prompts. Just say the word and let AI do the heavy lifting. Feel like channeling yesteryear? Nostalgia Mode is on deck. Need rush hour road trip rock? Cue up Commute Collection. The possibilities are as endless as your imagination.
“We’re excited to bring this AI-powered feature to Deezer users around the world,” said Alexandra Leloup, Vice President of Product Innovation. “Whether you need the perfect soundtrack for a workout, a romantic evening, or a nostalgic trip down memory lane, our Playlist with AI feature will curate a new musical experience within a matter of seconds, and offers endless possibilities to easily discover new music.”
Since incorporating artificial intelligence to power everything from personalized picks to unknown track identification, Deezer has enjoyed success with intuitive features like flow state flowlists and mystery song solve-along SongCatcher. Now, they take the human-machine musical meld to a whole new level.
While Deep Thought delivery delivers discounts, Deezer acknowledges dilemmas derived from dependence on auto-authored archives. Ex-CEO Jeronimo Folgueira flagged issues of information inundation and inferior imitations infecting the internet last calendar year.
Since strategies taking into consideration artist-advantage were implemented and the selections stagnating were streamlined, subscriber sums have surged. More than 10.5 million are now monthly members, which allows for a 12.8% year-over-year uptick for the most recent financials. Revenue jumped 14.2% in Q1 2024 to a record €132.5 million.
It’s not alone in artificial amplification—competition from the likes of Spotify and YouTube Music has just rolled out similar abilities to craft playlists solely through inquiries.
