Chappell Roan said pop artist Miley Cyrus, along with other artists, was the major influence for her own path and change as an artist. During her recently shared clip of her interview, Roan honestly mentioned Cyrus-to make changes each time musically and personally, is something that is highly admirable and taken into note by Roan herself.
Roan was among the youngest in attendance for Cyrus’ Best of Both Worlds tour. Literally descending from the ceiling, Roan instinctively knew she wanted to do big shows like that someday. That was something that really had stuck with her, basically driving her urge to perform great live performances herself someday. Cyrus’ hit Disney series, Hannah Montana, was huge, too, for Roan as an emerging artist.
Roan added that Cyrus also had a small global following-one which gave her the absolute freedom to relatively express herself across genres with fluidity. Roan would like to achieve that sort of connectivity with an audience on her terms.
Chappell has done musical numbers in costume as a homage to Cyrus’ Montana alter ego in previous shows and interviews. She said perhaps the distinction of an artistic persona from the personal identity could be the coping key from pressures of the industry, rather like Cyrus herself had to do, by her own admission, when she was young.
During a recent ceremony in honor of her ground-shaking acting role, Cyrus was in the position to look back at the residual effect of Hannah Montana and thank the character and devoted following that helped her dreams come true as a performing artist.
