Apple’s cheapest streaming option enabled music management solely through voice commands via Siri. But following lackluster user uptake for the voice-restricted interface, the tech giant has now discontinued its affordable Voice Plan tier.

Starting this November, the standalone Siri experience on Apple Music that retailed for just $4.99 per month will cease to exist. Consumers utilizing the plan currently have until their next billing cycle concludes to continue usage, at which point they must either upgrade or find an alternative service.

For those seeking frugal streaming, this represents a sizeable price bump. Apple’s new entry-level plan will be the standard Individual option at $10.99 monthly – well over double the Voice offering. It remains to be seen how price-conscious fans react to losing the reduced option.

While no reason was provided, it appears interface restrictions may have hampered the Voice Plan’s potential audience. Its removal aligns with other recent Apple subscription price increases, reflecting an industry-wide trend of rising costs. As alternatives abound, value-focused listeners now face a more challenging landscape for affordable access.
