Tony Buzbee has found himself inundated with calls after publicizing a hotline to investigate accusations against superstar producer Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Since launching the tip line just two weeks ago, Buzbee & Associates have been struggling to keep up with a steady stream of contacts. But that was nothing compared to the deluge of information received after Buzbee’s blockbuster press conference last Thursday.
According to one exhausted staff member, the phones simply did not stop ringing. “When I made the announcement that I was going to pursue these cases, the floodgates really opened. The volume of calls has been overwhelming, and it’s been kind of shocking.”
At a supposed rate of one call per minute over the entire day and night, these numbers suggest over 12,000 people desperately wanted to share their stories. While the legal team had braced themselves for public interest, the actual volume was difficult to fathom.
“Our Herculean task is to try to sift through every one of these calls and make sure that we’re identifying those who are victims and those who are witnesses and collect evidence,” revealed Buzbee.
The types of allegations ranged from sexual misconduct to outright abuse and trafficking of minors. Disturbingly, one reported victim was just 9 years old at the time of the alleged assaults.
Further worrying was Buzbee’s observation that the crimes appeared to span 25 years, involving industry parties and business dealings. This duration indicates the rap mogul may have systematically preyed on hopeful talents over decades.
Though the road ahead is long, Buzbee is clear in his resolve to diligently pursue all leads. His devoted staff now faces the herculean task of sifting through piles of statements to identify viable cases.
Justice may have been a long time coming, but these thousands of callers have ensured the true scope of the accusations against Combs can finally see the light of day.
